Liverpool defender Gomez has been outstanding since regaining full fitness and winning back his place alongside Virgil van Dijk at Anfield. Gomez has always been a regular pick for England squads but is now firmly in the frame to be a starter for the summer. There is also a strong belief that Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish will be in the next England squad after his excellent performances for his club. Southgate has resisted calls to pick him in the past but there is no issue or doubts about his quality. And the England boss even said at his last squad announcement that Grealish would get a call if there were any pull-outs.
