The Stars closed their preseason with a 5-1 loss in Minnesota on Saturday night, as Dallas finished 2-5-0 in exhibition games. Joe Pavelski scored the only Stars goal on Saturday night, tipping Jani Hakanpää's shot in the second period. Kirill Kaprizov (two), Joel Eriksson Ek, Brandon Duhaime and Mats Zuccarello scored goals for the Wild. Both Eriksson Ek and Pavelski’s goals could have reasonably been challenged for goaltender interferences, but neither Pete DeBoer nor Dean Evason elected to. Mason Marchment finished preseason as the Stars’ team leader in both goals (three) and points (four).
