Ahead of the women’s free skate on Friday morning in Pyeongchang, the figure skating at these Olympics has been a frozen roller coaster. Throughout all of it, Tara Lipinski and Weir, the one-time Olympians who have become stars as NBC’s lead figure-skating commentators, have explained and emoted everything there is to understand and feel about the sport. So to get a sense of what makes the broadcasts so mesmerizing, we decided to rewatch the video to analyze the analyst and break down the words that makes Weir a uniquely ebullient broadcaster.
