It is a look shared by most United fans, and symbolises Jose Mourinho’s deeply disappointing reign, which must surely be coming to an end soon. Sunday’s defeat leaves United 19 points behind Liverpool at the top of the table, and most alarming of all, 11 points from Chelsea in fourth place. The numbers from the game make for depressing reading for United: Liverpool had 36 shots, the most United have faced in a Premier League game since the 2003-04 season, while United could only muster 6 themselves. Liverpool had 64% possession of the ball, while United once again chased shadows and failed to make any real impact on the game. After the game Jose Mourinho looked a harrowed man, who trotted out the excuse that he has too many injury prone players in his squad.
