A British judo star critically injured in a motorcycle accident in Vietnam has woken from a coma and reached for her father’s hand, her family have said. The initial prognosis from doctors in Vietnam was not hopeful but she has been transferred to the Samitivej Hospital in Bangkok. Arriving there yesterday, her parents Robert, 54, and Alison, 52, found her with one eye open. Stephanie Inglis, 27, who was a 2014 Commonwealth Games silver medallist, was given a 1 per cent chance of survival after the accident last month but her family are now celebrating a remarkable sign of recovery.
