The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam, 30, an activist of Jubo Dal's Muradpur union unit, and son of Bazlur Rahman. Quoting locals, assistant superintendent of Chittagong police, Shampa Rani Saha, said the supporters of local Awami League leader Mafiz swooped in on Kalam—and stabbed him—around 7:30 pm on Thursday — leaving him critically injured. Police, in a drive, arrested six people in East Muradpur Delipara at night, reports UNB. When contacted, Awami League leader Mafiz said he does not know anything about the murder.
