Social Justice Minister Thaawarchand Gehlot can draw solace from the fact that he was sent to Raj Bhavan in Karnataka. These exits come after the Prime Minister’s free-wheeling discussions with the ministers in small groups after the second Covid wave abated. The exit of six Cabinet ministers was compensated by induction of 15, which included seven sitting ministers elevated to Cabinet rank. There is also a sense in the government that ideological projects had a governance cost and set off social and political anxieties.
