According to Chittagong Fire Service, the fire originated at Victoria Jute Mill around 5:15pm, on Friday. The Fire Service officials, however, could not ascertain the cause of the fire as of yet. Deputy Assistant Director of Chittagong Fire Service Jashim Uddin, said that 15 vehicles from 15 units of fire fighters had rushed to the spot and are currently trying, in a frantic effort, to douse the flames.
