KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday ordered Karachi Development Authority (KDA) to launch an anti-encroachment drive in Gulistan-e-Jauhar to vacate the state-owned land occupied in the neighbourhood through China cutting. The ruling was passed on a petition submitted in the high court accusing the KDA of supporting land grabbers in the neighbourhood. The court directed the authority to launch a drive to vacate the occupied land. On the occasion, Raza Qaimkhani, KDA director land management, complained of attacks on anti-encroachment drives. To this, the court asked Sindh Rangers director general Maj Gen Omer Bukhari and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) East Noman Siddiqui to provide security to the KDA staff during the drive.
