During the altercation, Mr. Spears armed himself with a knife and stabbed Mr. Alexander. Mr. Alexander was transported by private vehicle to the Cumberland County Hospital and later flown to the University of Kentucky Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Shortly after the altercation, Mr. Spears remained outside of the residence and brandished the knife toward others at the residence. As a result of the preliminary investigation, Dennis Spears was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree and lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail. Detective Ford was assisted by other KSP Troopers, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, and the Burkesville Police Department.
