Filipino basketball prodigy Kai Sotto arrived in the country from the United States on Monday night at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The 7-foot-3 Sotto went home by his lonesome in an effort to join Gilas Pilipinas for the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers and the Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT). Sotto, however, needs to undergo a 14-day quarantine -- a health protocol from travelers entering the Philippines -- before he can join the Philippine national basketball team. Kai Sotto FIBA PHOTOThat leaves his Gilas stint in the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers uncertain, as he can only go out on June 14, only two days before the qualifiers that will last until June 20 in Pampanga. But it will likely be an easy transition for Sotto, as he already trained with Gilas in February for the Asia Cup Qualifiers.
