Phillips said: “I actually thought he was playing a joke on me to be fair. He walked over with a big smile on his face with something behind his back. I thought he had one of those pies you smash into people’s faces! Phillips, 25, beat Mason Mount into second while Raheem Sterling was third in the fans’ vote for the 2020/21 BT England Men’s Player of the Year award.
