Kamal: Killings along Indian border on the rise

“It (the border killings) was fewer in number in the past, but has increased in recent days,” he said, addressing a seminar on human rights at a hotel in Dhaka on Saturday. We have always been talking about stopping the border killings.”The minister’s statement came just a week after he said Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) continued its all out efforts and the government was taking necessary measures at the diplomatic level to stop border killings. Notably, a director general level meeting of BGB and BSF in December, reached consensus on reducing the border killings to zero. But the number of border killings tripled last year as compared to 2018. At least 43 Bangladeshis were killed by the BSF in 2019 and 14 in 2018, according to Ain O Salish Kendra.
