TAWAU: The Tawau Minicipal Council (MPT) will not allow the rebuilding of houses on the fire site of the water village, Kampung Hidayat, Batu 4, Jalan Apas. This is in line with government’s policy to lessen the building of houses on water. He said Kampung Hidayat had been turned into a Filipino war refugee settlement under the supervision of the National Security Council. "Similarly, for water supply, only 30 metres were registered under the Water Supply Department," he told reporters here today. From the total number of victims, 1,141 were Malaysians (170 household heads), while 819 were foreigners (91 household heads).
