Kansas City Fed Services Activity Index Moves Higher in October

By Colin KellaherServices activity in the middle of the U.S. continued to grow in October despite widespread supply-chain issues, while expectations for future activity slipped but remained positive, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. The Kansas City Fed said October's reading reflects an uptick in wholesale, retail, real-estate, and professional and high-tech business activity, while auto and tourism activity fell. The Kansas City Fed said expectations for future services activity fell to 22 in October from a reading of 27 in September. The Kansas City Fed's survey includes participants from such service industries as retail and wholesale trade, automobile dealers, real estate and restaurants. The survey provides information on current services activity in the Tenth District, which includes Colorado, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, the northern half of New Mexico and the western third of Missouri.
