Keeping wildlife in mind


With spring at last in the air, it seems more people are keeping wildlife in mind by opting for eco-friendly and organic products, where possible, rather than having just ornamental plants in their gardens. With the large-scale disappearance of wildflower meadows - once speckled with the likes of dandelion, clover, daisies, and cowslips all providing food for pollinators - we’re also urged to consider using native plants. The popular Hare’s Corner project, started by the Burrenbeo Trust, in County Clare, has been extended to nine other counties since January. The Burrenbeo team, meanwhile, has been travelling around the country delivering 80,000 native trees to participants who are creating over 1,500 new woodland and hedgerow habitats.
