A good, solid apology may be in the cards, but the prime minister might want to give it some thought before he plunges ahead. Each instance was worthy, though it’s been suggested the prime minister apologizes too often. Instead, Butts told the prime minister he’d never in his entire career heard of anyone turning down a cabinet job. Trudeau does have certain performance skills, but faking sincerity, as they say, is a tough one, even for the pros. And there’s a lot of ground to cover in this plea for forgiveness, from a prime minister who has frittered away a considerable store of his credibility.
