Mr. Beshear said on Facebook Saturday that the state was still in the search-and-rescue phase and that the number of fatalities was likely to increase. The flooding, which has washed away homes and damaged roads and bridges, is among the worst in state history, Mr. Beshear said earlier this week. As the death toll climbed on Friday, he provided additional details about those killed, saying they included elderly residents and six children. Mr. Beshear said previously that he expected it would take the state at least a year to rebuild from the damage caused by the flooding.
