Joseph Otiende, who served as Kenya's first education minister is dead. Otiende 100, died at 4.30am on Wednesday at Avenue Hospital in Kisumu county. His son, Maleya Chanzu said Mzee Otiende had been admitted for two months but he did not disclosed the status of his illness. Otiende was in the first Cabinet of 15 members and served between 1963 and 1969. He's the hero of Kenya's independent cabinet who set the pace for Kenya's education system.
