A 26-year-old postgraduate woman doctor allegedly died by suicide by injecting a high dose of anesthetic drugs at her flat in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, said police. Police said that the deceased, Shahana, was a postgraduate doctor at the surgery department in the Government Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram. During the investigation, it was revealed that her fiance’s family demanded gold, land, and a BMW car as dowry. When Shahana’s family members were not able to fulfill all of their demands, the doctor broke the marriage. Kerala’s Health Minister Veena George also ordered a probe into the alleged suicide after dowry allegations came to fore.
