"On an average 600-700 policemen are on duty on this pilot and escort duty. The LDF government is attempting to ensure its ministers show a new style of governance by doing away with some symbolic gestures. "Unless I go into an area with social or political tension, why do I need escort from house to this office. This could well mean that security of former ministers and other political leaders of even Z+ category can be ripped off. You can see after a while that none of this will be in practice," said Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala.
