BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and its Executive Committee member Nipun Roy led the procession. In a brief address after the procession, Rizvi said they brought out the torch procession demanding their chairperson's release. He alleged that the government plunged the country into darkness by destroying democracy, snatching people's freedom of expression, and sending Khaleda Zia to jail. "We will surely free our leader Khaleda Zia and restore democracy in the country," he added.
