The 73-year-old breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital on Tuesday afternoon. He was admitted to the hospital on December 13 with fever and had later tested Covid-19 positive. Khondaker Ataul Haque was writing a book to highlight the eventful history of the Liberation War. National Press Club President Saiful Alam and General Secretary Farida Yasmin in a statement expressed condolences over the death of Khandaker Ataul Haque.
