SEOUL—North Korea is signaling a firmer stance toward the U.S. following the breakdown of denuclearization talks, with leader Kim Jong Un visiting a military unit for the first time this year and directing pilots in combat maneuvers. Mr. Kim visited the air force unit on Tuesday and instructed pilots to “take off and perform difficult and complicated air combat actions,” according to a report by Pyongyang’s state media on Wednesday. He left having “expressed great satisfaction over the excellent readiness,” the report said.
