Groups from Uffculme and Willand have been working with outs throughout the UK to knit squares to make blankets which are sent to Hamlin Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia, by the charity Hamlin Fistula UK. Completed blankets are sent off three times a year. Drs Catherine and Reg Hamlin founded this organisation in 1974 after being confronted with the tragic situation of Ethiopian women suffering from obstetric fistulas. You can read more about their work on their website Hamlin Fistula, Ethiopia. If you would like to contribute blankets or squares or join the group contact Chris Dodds at doddsy4203@gmail.com.
