In the end, this was the first signature win of Kyle Shanahan’s tenure in Santa Clara. If Mullens can continue to prove himself worthy of seeing the field, the 49ers will have a solid backup next season. More so than any other game this season, 49ers youngsters showed up big time. And in reality, that’s the biggest takeaway from Shanahan’s first defining win as the 49ers’ head coach.
