Recent shortage of gasoline in the Country which stalled commercial activities throughout the country and was being blamed on the lack of space to allow bigger vessels to be docked at the Freeport of Monrovia drew the attention of the Liberian leader, President George Manneh Weah who with immediate effect ordered its dredging. The dredging of the Freeport of Monrovia which took off last Wednesday, February 5, 2020 has been welcomed by many Liberians and some foreign residents who are also importers, lauding the move by the Liberian leader urging him to do more in other sectors for their acceleration in the interest of the Liberian people. “Dredging of the at this time will helping many of us who are importers to receive out goods on time; I think it is long overdue the action taken by President W to ordered the dredging of the Freeport of Monrovia,” Nathaniel Freeman, a resident of Monrovia speaking to the GNN noted. I believed if the President would not have order the management to do so, who knows the issue would have still be on hand,” Esther Juah Walker, a resident of Monrovia speaking to the GNN said. According to him, President Weah was concerned about the dredging of the Port when he attended the turning over of the five fire trucks at the Freeport of Monrovia.
