LSU Fires Les Miles After Lackluster Start

This season, Miles’s 12th in Baton Rouge, has gotten off to the worst start of his tenure, a 2-2 record including an 18-13 loss to an unranked Auburn team on Saturday. Following four years at Oklahoma State, he took the LSU job before the 2005 season when the team’s previous coach, Nick Saban, left to coach the Miami Dolphins in the NFL. In 2011, Miles again led the Tigers to a Southeastern Conference title and undefeated regular season, including a 9-6 win over Saban and Alabama. Defensive line coach Ed Orgeron will be the team’s interim coach. In 2013, Orgeron was in a similar situation at USC when he took the programs reins midseason after Lane Kiffin was fired.
