Lady Bulldogs roll on, clinch semis berthMANILA, Philippines — Titleholder National U made short work of cellar-dweller University of the East, 25-19, 25-14, 25-14, and clinched its fifth straight UAAP Final Four stint at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion yesterday. Seemingly peaking at the right time, the three-peat seeking Lady Bulldogs notched their third win in a row and improved to 9-3 – on track to securing the second twice-to-beat incentive next to unbeaten La Salle (12-0). NU now has a two-game lead over joint third placers Adamson (7-5), Santo Tomas (7-5) and FEU (7-5) in a race for the coveted second seed. The Lady Tamaraws, bannered by Clarisse Loresco and Alyzza Devosora, joined the mix after a 25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 25-22 win over the UP Fighting Maroons later in the night. NU, despite a first-round loss in four sets, poses the biggest threat on the automatic finals passage bid of La Salle, which also has the winless UE in its schedule prior.
