Lahore has once again risen to the top of the Air Quality Index (AQI) with a score of 306, which is over 33 per cent higher than New Delhi, according to IQAir. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, a score of 50 or lower constitutes as safe, making Lahore six times higher than the threshold for safe-to-breath air. Similarly, Karachi came in seventh place on the charts, with an AQI of 168. Meanwhile, India’s Delhi and Mumbai came in second and fourth with scores of 182 and 174 respectively. Earlier in the year, the lockdown had shut down most factories and intra-city travel, causing the AQI to return to healthy levels.
