Some armed hoodlums on Monday attacked vehicles conveying principal officers of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and newsmen going on inspection of hostel accommodation built by the university at Parakin Area, Ile-Ife. The attackers carrying axe, charms, machetes, and guns had blocked Ife/Ede road and prevented the vehicles from accessing the hostels. While the melee lasted, gunshots were heard as the hoodlums wielding dangerous weapons hit the vehicles and prevented the team from proceeding. Ogunbodede said the hostel accommodation that had been completed but could not be occupied by students owning to security concerns. They are not interested in ceding an inch of the university land to anybody.
