A LANDMARK study has been launched to help multiple sclerosis patients deal with cognitive difficulties and transform their lifestyles through the ability to remain in employment and manage their own care. The Irish study aims to help the 60pc of Irish MS patients whose illness manifests itself through cognitive problems such as motor skill issues. Now, a special NUI Galway study aims to tackle the problem with the research programme boasting the direct involvement of MS patients in its development. "I was employed by NUI Galway to fulfill the role of patient and public participation (PPI)," Mr Joyce explained. Researchers believe the benefits for MS patients can prove truly astounding in terms of enhancing their quality of life.
