PhotoMADRID — In the 1970s, Ella Fontanals-Cisneros opened an art gallery in Caracas and started buying works from Venezuelan painters. Now, Ms. Fontanals-Cisneros has agreed to donate part of what has grown into one of the largest private collections of Latin American art. The donated works will be exhibited in an arts center in Madrid, as well as in a yet-to-be-selected American museum. Ms. Fontanals-Cisneros set up her art foundation in 2002. Born in Cuba, Ms. Fontanals-Cisneros has a home in Madrid and got a Spanish passport a decade ago.
