A 35-year-old laundryman, Babatunde Orekoya, wh o allegedly raped a 20-year-old student, was on Monday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court. The accused, a resident of Awoyokun area of Ilupeju, Lagos, is being tried on a charge of rape, to which he pleaded not guilty. Raji Akeem told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 11 at his residence. The prosecutor alleged that the accused forcefully had carnal knowledge of the complainant, without her consent. “The student, thinking the accused had her interest at heart, told him she was looking for a job to support her studies.
