Law and order ‘worsening’ in absence of election, deaths rising: FakhrulBNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that the absence of general election is fuelling a “deterioration” in law and order and a surge in deaths across Bangladesh. Addressing the interim authorities, he said: “Let me be clear -- investigate the incidents without delay, identify the real offenders, and ensure punishment. ‘WE WANT SWIFT POLLS’Fakhrul reiterated the party’s call for a swift national election under a reformed state structure. “There is no alternative to democracy, and the first step to democracy is an election,” he said. The senior BNP leader added, “These incidents -- the breakdown in law and order, the rise in deaths -- are happening because there is no election.
