A police official, Abu Sayem, serving as assistant sub-inspector of Rangpur Metropolitan police, allegedly used his source, Ariful Islam Rocky, to implant yaba pills on BTC official Raju, sources have said. According to eyewitnesses, the ASI arrested Raju right after Rocky handed over a packet of cigarettes, which contained the contraband drug yaba, to him at 12.30am on WednesdaySensing the situation, Raju’s colleagues and locals rescued him, confined the ASI and began a protest against his misdemeanour. Later, police came and escorted the corrupt official to the police station, confirmed Shahidullah Kaosar, additional deputy commissioner of RMP. He said: “We are investigating the matter and if ASI Abu Sayem is found guilty we will surely take legal action against him.”“However, we have received no such complaints against him before,” added the officer.
