Apprentices at Learndirect were given lessons that were too easy in English and maths, and many did not get the training to which they were entitled. Attendance by adults on skills courses was often poor and went unchallenged, the watchdog said. A damning report published today, after a delay of several months as the company fought a legal battle to stop it, said its management “failed to take swift and decisive action to stem the decline in performance over the past three years”.
