Listen to this articleThe State Railway of Thailand (SRT) will seek a final ruling from the Attorney-General on whether to terminate contracts with Italian-Thai Development Plc (ITD) following a deadly rail accident. Anan Phonimdaeng, acting SRT governor, said yesterday the SRT board on Thursday agreed to forward all investigation findings to the Office of the Attorney-General for a decisive opinion. Mr Anan said the SRT board was acting on instructions from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn. "According to the report presented to the board, ITD failed to provide safety supervisors and lookout personnel during crane operations, despite trains continuing to pass through the area. Mr Anan acknowledged that terminating the contracts could delay the project, which is 99.5% complete.
