Mrs O’Neill, the new leader of Sinn Fein in Northern Ireland, will hold talks on Brexit with the British prime minister in Cardiff. The meeting of Britain’s joint ministerial committee (JMC) has been described as crucial by Nicola Sturgeon, the Scottish first minister, who will chair the talks. The JMC is the body that co-ordinates the relationship between Downing Street and the devolved institutions of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
