Letters: Shutting down North Sea oil and gas production would be an act of folly

Major fertiliser production has been halted, the knock-on effect of which is rapidly becoming evident as a by-product of fertiliser production is carbon dioxide. At our peril should the Government shut down oil and gas production in the North Sea. THE latest panic over the lack of supply of carbon dioxide is puzzling to me. Billions are being spent in eliminating carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and it is surely ironic that there is a shortage. A Welsh mile is 3 miles and 1,470 yds long, comprising 9,000 paces, each of 3 Welsh feet of 9 inches.
