Communications Minister Walid Al-Lafi, serving under Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh’s government, held a meeting on Monday with a number of state officials to “follow up on the government’s preparations for the upcoming elections,” according to a government statement. He also reviewed “the Ministry of Interior’s procedures for resuming work on plan to secure the elections”. Al-Lafi also proposed a “broad media campaign to ensure adequate participation in the elections at the national level.”
