U.S. forces arrested Mustafa al-Imam, a militant suspected of playing a role in the 2012 attack on a U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans, USA Today reported Oct. 30. Al-Imam was captured during a special operations forces raid in Libya and is expected to be in the United States within the next two days. On Sept. 11, 2012, several members of the Ansar al-Sharia militia set fire to the U.S. Consulate, making Stevens the first U.S. ambassador to be killed in the line of duty since 1979. Ambassador to Pakistan Arnold L. Raphel died in a plane crash in 1988, the nature of the crash was suspicious and considered by many to be an act of sabotage by a third party
