BERLIN - Libya’s foreign minister voiced hope Wednesday that foreign mercenaries will pull out of the North African country in the next days, after “progress” was made at a new round of peace talks in Berlin on Wednesday. Earlier on Wednesday, Libya’s interim prime minister asked for international help to withdraw foreign fighters from Libya as he addressed participants in the Berlin conference. Speaking before the start of the talks, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said the participants wanted to “ensure international support is there”. “We share the goal of a sovereign, stable, unified and secure Libya, free from foreign interference,” he added. The two sides’ October ceasefire called for the withdrawal of all foreign mercenaries by January.
