Libyan Speaker says LNA aims to liberate Tripoli from terrorism not reaching power

CAIRO - 6 June 2020: Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives Aguila Saleh said on Sunday the Libyan National Army (LNA) aims to liberate Tripoli from militias terrorist groups, not to reach power as the Muslim Brotherhood circulates. Saleh noted in statements to Libya Al Hadath news channel that the legislative authorities in Libya, represented in LNA, the parliament, and government, are not proponents of aggression. He held the terrorist groups and militias responsible for spreading chaos in the Arab country. Numerous militias are fighting for power and influence in the country, with Tripoli-allied militias backed by Turkey, Qatar and Italy. Meanwhile, eastern-based military commander Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army is backed by the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, France and Russia.
