A streak of light burst across the night sky late Wednesday, generating a frenzy and prompting questions:Was it a meteor or meteor shower? The streak of light coincides with the Delta Aquarid meteor shower, which usually peaks about July 28 or July 29. From witness accounts, the glowing trail was spotted in Nevada, Utah and across California -- and perhaps elsewhere. The National Weather Service office in Oxnard acknowledged seeing reports of the glimmering trail but was not in a position to say what it was. A spokesman for U.S. Strategic Command said the agency would not provide details until Thursday morning.
