A woman has died and her child left nursing injuries after lightning struck their house Friday evening in Emborogo, Kisii. Villagers said the incident occurred at 6.30 pm following a heavy downpour. The child, a Grade 7 pupil, was rescued by a neighbour who had gone to visit. He told the Star the village urgently needs thunder arresters erected to stem similar incidents. Abraham Nyabuto, a Nyumba Kumi official asked the government to undertake road repairs in the village adding that the existing one was in bad shape."
