It's been a stormy start to the week with heavy rain, gales and road snowfall warnings in place. MetService meteorologist Andrew James said more scattered showers, cool winds and possible hail and lightning strikes were possible on Tuesday, but with blue-sky breaks in between. A trough was then forecast to move onto the South Island from the west on Friday, bringing some rain ito Buller to Fiordland. The front would likely move onto the North Island later Friday, bringing rain to western areas and strong to gale northwesterly winds.
