The issue went on to once again drive a wedge between the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) and FEFSI. For instance, FEFSI is headed by R.K. Selvamani, who, ironically, was a part of the producers’ council during a similar stand-off in 2012. Stating that those who work for a daily wage form the majority of the 25,000-strong FEFSI, he said that these workers need work on a daily basis. FEFSI members attached to various unions are distraught, given how the recent events have played out in public. Eventually, members of TFPC hope that they could create a pool of skilled workers and reduce their dependency on FEFSI.
