Likely was headed for an NFL career before he blew out his ACL in the homecoming game of his senior year against Minnesota in 2016. Likely worked his way back to health and earned an invite to the New England Patriots camp in 2017. “I just want to play,” Likely said a handful of times over the course of a few minutes of conversation. Among the moves is corner Ronnie Yell moving inside thereby opening a spot outside where Likely has been all week in practice. There are those who might look back on the way things played out with regret but Likely is not one of those.
