England captain Leah Williamson has said that women's footballers would not rule out strike action amid growing concerns over fixture scheduling. Some of their players, including Williamson, Chloe Kelly, Alessia Russo and Mariona Caldentey, then made it to the Women's Euros final nine weeks later. Many of the women's players have subsequently struggled with injury coming back into the current campaign, including at least 10 of Williamson's England team-mates. Williamson's team-mate Keira Walsh has also been outspoken about the congested fixture schedule, saying there 'wasn't enough recovery time' between games.
